Star Wars; The Force Awakens Crosses $250M Globally

 "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has already surpassed $100 million in North America, and $250 million globally, setting it up for a record-setting weekend.

According to The Walt Disney Co. on Saturday, the film made an estimated $120.5 million from Thursday night previews and opening day Friday, which smashes the previous opening day record of $91.1 million, set by "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2."

Since beginning its overseas release Wednesday, "The Force Awakens" has made an estimated $129.5 million internationally.

Currently, "Jurassic World" holds the global weekend
opening record with $524.9 million, a number J.J. Abrams' seventh chapter in the "Star Wars" saga could well exceed.

GMA Nominations Announcement Recieves Serious Back Lash

Ghanian actress Yvonne Nelson has continued to show her disapproval and disappointment at the nomination list for the upcoming Ghana Movie Awards.

Earlier today, she shared posts from her fellow colleagues' Instagram page where they wrote a long piece showing their disapproval at the movie Beast of No Nation sweeping 15 nominations in the upcoming awards.

 She captioned the post thus;

"ITS NOT EVEN ABOUT WHO IS WINNING WHAT! It's about supporting and recognizing our very own local PRODUCERS! What a shame! A lot of people won't speak up! Nicki Minaj Unveils Cast For Her Upcoming Series On ABC Family Comedy

Nicki Minaj is set to executive produce and appear in a scripted comedy series for ABC Family based on the rap star’s life growing up in Queens, New York. 

Today the star took to Instagram to share the final cast list. And Up and coming actress, Ariana Neal, who also acted in the acclaimed film Fruitvale Station, will play a young Minaj.

Selita Ebanks, will star as Minaj's mother on the show, Whoopi Goldberg has also signed on to portray the rapper's next-door neighbor, and Minaj promised that she will make appearances as well.

In a second post, Minaj said that she "literally cried" while watching Neal's audition tape.

" I literally cried watching her taped audition. I demanded to meet her! Sat in a room with her teaching her how to rap by doing a beat on the table & forcing her to stay on beat! Lol. When Viola Davis won the award for Best Actress In A Drama Series for her lead part as Annalise Keating in the hit television show How To Get Away With Murder, she was the first black actress to ever win best actress in a drama series in history. Viola was up against Taraji P. Henson for that award for her part asCookie in the star-studded smash hit television series, Empire.

And now, the two are both in the running in the same category once again in the upcoming Golden Globes.

This Is The Nigerian Video Will Smith Spoke On The Daily Show

The Peter Landesman produced film, Concussion has and is still  drawing a lot of speculation since it pre-release, especially the main character; a Nigerian Doctor(Bennet Omalu) , a role played convincingly well(or so we thought) by Hollywood actor Will Smith.

However, amongst several critics the movie suffered, the fact that a number of africans and Nigerians are of the opinion that Will Smith did not pull off the African accent successfully, seems to stand out.

To this effect, Nigerian novelist, satirist and writer, John Elnathan in a satirical video decided to refer to Will's much talked about accent as a "Nigerian accent with a concussion" which Smith himself seems to agree with.
